This hybrid pen body is real Fordite combined with black epoxy resin. A very dramatic and awesome combo!Fordite is, by definition, layers of dry paint.Fordite raw material (also known as Detroit or Motor City agate) is incredibly rare and very expensive! This Fordite is a buildup of old automotive paint that has been baked numerous times and hardened sufficiently to be cut and polished. It take a lot of patience to make these pens, but the result is an impressive and very unique was discovered by William Hyde Wollaston, an English chemist, in 1803 while analyzing samples ofplatinumore that were obtained from South America. Although it is a rare element, palladium tends to occur along with deposits of platinum,nickel,copper,silverandgoldand is recovered as a byproduct of mining these other metals.
