VTG Republic Chinese Teapot Porcelain Peach Tree by Yong Sheng 8” Glazed Gilt:

An stunning vintage sculptural teapot by the Hong Kong based factory Yong Sheng Cai Ci Chang (Eternal Victory Ornamental Porcelain Factory), stated to be from the People’s Republic of China. A squat, round white porcelain teapot with a heavily glazed organic design of peach tree branches laden with three-dimensional peach fruits (a symbol of longevity) and leaves. It has a tall handle in the shape of a branch and a squat, fully gold painted spout in the shape of a peach. The handle ends in a red fish tail. The background of the teapot is in a highly stylized traditional Chinese pattern, glazed in cobalt blue and gold. This pattern is also on the lid. The interior of the lid is covered in unglazed but very light red-brown clay slip, and the interior of the teapot is unglazed white.

A hard to find item. An interesting and artistic combination of organic and stylized designs.

Most likely made in the 1970s. There are two paper labels and the red Yong Sheng Cai Ci Chang stamp on the bottom. One label warns that the teapot is for decorative use only. The other label gives Art No MB 1003, Design No EA27NB, and Size 8- and declares it is made in “The People Republic of China.” The lid is marked in red paint “836.”

Measures 8” H x 8-1/4” W x 8-1/2” D.

In good preowned condition. NOT to be used for tea or other consumables. Decorative use only. No apparent chips or cracks. The bottom of the interior has a rough ring of cobalt blue glaze remnants and drips of white glaze. The bottom of the teapot has some dark staining on the unglazed parts. The lid sits loosely on top of the teapot. See images for details.
