An absolutely stunning specimen from this ancient New Zelaand locale! This specimen consists of ultra bright, gemmy sulfur crystals covering a a jet black charcoal matrix. The charcoal was formed during an ash flow from the 186AD Taupo eruption. These extraordinary pieces are next to impossible to obtain these days, due to the area now being a conservation reserve managed by the Department of Conservation, and the local Maori tribe. Permission to collect can only be given by these groups. Try and find another example on the market today! An oddball piece to say the least! Don’t let this geological wonder pass you by!
