We have here a 2x8x0.7" Norton SB8 Soft Arkansas Stone, and one of its 2x8″ facets has been shaped to become a 6.5’Ø primary axis ellipse, with a 25’Ø secondary axis.

I do not believe there exists a superior whetstone for straight razors than the convexed combination of soft and hard/black/translucent Arkansas stones, entirely dependent upon its surface preparation, shape, and homogeneity.

For a bevel-setting stone, you're best served by a slightly coarser abrasive and a short effective diameter.
