I had listed this item once, but the content of the video was incorrect, so I am listing it again.

Product:

This is a hand plane “Kanna” fully maintained for ready to use. Please check video and photo and feel free to contact us for more details.

This vintage Kanna <Isshim/一心> is.

  • Cleaned, and removed the rust, blacking with gun blue liquid.
  • Double-edged blade.
  • Blade: 71mm (2.80in) Wide (lower) x 91mm (3.58in) Tall,used.
  • Chip-breaker: 60mm (2.36 in) Wide x 53mm (2.09 in) Tall, New! But at the moment, the chip-breaker is not needed to plane, which means that planing can be done with just blade.
  • Wood Bottom Dai: 88mm (3.46in) Wide x 272mm (10.71 in) Length x 35mm (1.38in) Thickness, New.
  • Small amount of epoxy resin was applied on the oblique surface (Omote-Najimi) of the Dai to fit the blade and surface, and to prevent drying of Dai itself (Photo-11).

Photograph-4,5 and 6 and shows.

  • Wood-Dai is new, and"Normal" style.
  • The gap of blade-mouth is very narrow. You might mistakenly think that no shaving would come out from the gap. It is no problem! Through the gap you can see the light on the other side.
  • Because of this narrow gap (blade-mouth), you can plane without chip-breaker. (See the video) Chip-breaker is needed when the thickness of the Dai decreases (smooth it out with sandpaper), and the blade-mouth is wider.
  • Surface of the Dai-sole is tuned in two-touch points.

In my video, I performed planing a SPF wood timber using this Kannas. As a result of narrow gap (blade-mouth), fine tuning of Dai-sole and sharpening the blade edges, even without chip-breaker andthe just weight of the Kanna itselfwithout press down forces, by simply pulling Kanna backwards, the cutting edge will bite into the wood surface and allow you to shave i thinly like a silk fabric.

When you buy a used Kanna you have to set up it to planning in smoothly by yourself. Not only sharpening the blade-edge, but also reshape the blade, also sharpening the chip-breaker blade (counter-blade) and tune the sole of wood bottom “Dai”. It took a few days to have these tuning.

If you have Kanna for the first time you might be confused because of many things to do. (See the below website)

Now you have a chance to get ready-to-use. As soon an the Kanna arrives, you can use it but you should re-sharpen the blade from time to time to maintain its to set-up Kanna:Learn – Learn – Kakuri Sangyo POST, EMS, about 10 duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges.
