Vintage Emerson 888-series transistor radios used unique AA battery holders. Many of these old holders have disappeared, become damaged or corroded.

This replacement just might get your beloved 888 playing again. The kit comes with a battery holder and illustrated, color installation instructions for your specific chassis. It's perhaps a a five-minute installation project. You will need to unsolder and solder two wires.

PLEASE NOTE:While Emerson 888 radios look similar on the outside, you will see numerous variations when you get inside. This kit is for what I like to call "simple" models where there is no 3V center-tap battery holder wire.

The paper label near the earphone jack has a small three-digit number indicating the last three digits of the chassis number. Emerson 888 chassis numbers started with 120, therefore, if the label reads 577 the chassis number for the radio would be 120577. If the label digits are 374 the chassis is a 120374, and so on. The third photo in this listing shows a typical chassis number label.
