The Rare and beautiful, "1877, Nov. 1, 1877, Edition of 'Forest & Stream, Gun and Rod', The American Sportsman's Journal." Known as an American Gentlemen's Newspaper, it was published in New York City. (111 Fulton St.) The issue offered here is designated Vol. 9-No. 13 No. 111.

This edition contains 20 pages, including the cover, and measures approximately 15-3/4” x 11-1/2”. Note their logo illustration on the first page, for which they were well known.

The Newspaper contains articles and advertisements for every aspect of American Sport and Game. The featured article starting on page 1 is entitled "A Summer on the Lower St. Lawrence,." There are several additional articles, including, "Among the Pines and Violets," An Indian Romance of the Revolution," Professor Cope and his discovers in Texas," "Sea and River Fishing," ;"Salmon Fishing," " Vacation Rambles in Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota No. 9" "Yachting and Boating, The New York Horticultural Society", "Notes on Albinos (squirrels)", "Who is R. Wakefield?", "Vacationing in Michigan and Wisconson", Game and Fish Protection, and more.

On the last few pages, especially wonderful are many illustrated advertisements for every type of rifle you can imagine, plus hand guns, camping equipment, fishing equipment, fine wines and many, many more sporting "life" related advertisements.

This amazing, 19th century American Sporting Newspaper is in good condition. All of the pages are whole with only a couple of minor tears along the edges. The front and back cover have separated, but the interior pages are still tight, and intact. There is some light age toning and the occasional spot of foxing / staining, but in general it is clean.

NOTE: This journal will be send folded in thirds for shipping, just like it was orginally sent in 1877.
