Up for sale is this vintage, framed Paul Jacoulet woodblock print. Please excuse any glare in the photos. Three women surrounded by beautiful flowers are featured in this print. The print is matted and framed under glass. The sight area measures approximately 15 1/8 inches by 11 1/2 inches. The exterior frame dimensions are approximately 21 1/8 inches by 15 3/4 inches. Unpacked, this item weighs approximately 3 pounds 12 ounces. This would be a fine addition to a collection of Paul Jacoulet prints.Identification
This print is by Paul Jacoulet (1896-1960), a listed artist on askART. The exact age of this vintage piece is not known. Per Wikipedia, Jacoulet was born in Paris, France, but he resided in Japan for much of his life. His works were produced in an aesthetically unique way which combined traditional ukiyo-e techniques and his own personal style. The title of this print is "Retour de la Jungle, Tondano: Celebes" or, "Return from the Jungle, Tondano: Celebes." This piece has stamped and pencil markings at the lower right side, as shown. Verso, there is a label from a San Francisco frame shop.Condition
This piece looks very good overall, as shown. I have not examined the artwork outside of the frame, since it was already nicely framed when I acquired it. There are no visible holes, stains, or rips to the print. The frame has very light wear. The back side is as shown.
