This is a beast of a fossil. I’ve been slowly working on it for 2 yrs now. Air-scribing matrix and gastropods shells etc off it. This specimen has been personally brought to multiple universities and my states national history museum, with not even so much as a “probable” identification other than this is a creature/creatures that were once in seawater! I’ve sent pictures all over the country with no luck… if I had 3 guesses

1) this is some species of turtle/reptile/amphibian that was split up pretty badly during the event that started its fossilization. Perhaps turtle eggs? These are scales, make no mistake.

2) it’s an awkward cluster of Oysters or some species similar. In a conglomerate with a bunch of sea life, and some sort of bone fragments. Someone once suggested fossilized whale vomit….?

3) I have no clue. But it’s special whatever it is….

This is a large piece. Approx 40lbs 22”x12”x12” it’s been one heck of a conversation piece. Museums trying to buy it in their somewhat deceptive ways! Multiple professors expressed its value being “very serious”.
