1880s-90s Bobby Lowe 1st MLB 4 Home Run Game Gehrig 2nd Baseball Cabinet Card:
$111.50

1880’s to 1890’s Bobby Lowe cabinet card. Uncredited publisher. Lowe played the bill of his MLB playing career in Boston. He played for and managed the Detroit Tigers at the end of his career. He spent a good portion of his life after his playing days as a Tigers scout. He died in Detroit. Bobby was the first MLB player to hit 4 home runs in a game. He hit 2 in the third inning of the game. The opposing pitcher was Ice Box Chamberlain. I recently sold a newly discovered Chamberlsin on . I don’t have any more Chambetlain’s. Lowe had his 4 home run game in 1894. The next to do it was Lou Gehrig. Lowe posed in a Boston Beaneaters uniform with Gehrig after Lou’s accomplishment. Lowe was born at the close of the US Civil war. He outlived Gehrig by about 10 years. Lowe’s career .273 batting average reflects an above average early career with falling stats towards the tail end. I’m surprised Lowe isn’t a member of the Braves team Hall of Fame. Card is a little under 5 by 7 inch in size. Stains, toning and wear. Some creasing. Feel free to ask questions. The $111.50 was the suggested listing price by . A little lower than I would have priced it at, but I will roll with it.
