This is a lovely antique original 15th-16th century Inka Textile made of cameloid wood fiber and sewn together at the center with two matching halves to create a larger Lliklla or lliglla (women's shawl that was traditionally worn over the shoulders). This is beautiful design with a yellowish green and tones of pink and orange. It is in remarkably good condition considering it is around 500 years old.
Provenance:Gisele Maynard-Tucker estate, Los Angeles, California. Dr. Maynard-Tucker was a famous Medical and Social Anthropologist who spent several years in Peru, where she was likely gifted this item.Condition:Very good condition. Condition is commensurate with age and use. Very minor frays, holes, and loose threads. Very little fading. Please see photos.
