These Turtle bookends are sure to be a conversation starter wherever you place them.
These are beautiful and heavy bookends that I believe to be some sort of handmade pottery.
Both of them are lined with a fabric that feels like leather so that they glide smoothly against books and table tops.
Whoever made these did them with great detail and made sure to add little bits of leather to the feet of the mother turtle as well.
The scene depicted on the bookends is a mother turtle on one and a group of hatchlings and eggs buried in sand on the other bookend.
Up the sides comes some sort of vegetation.
I looked but did not see any sort of signature or Maker's Mark which is surprising given the high quality of these.
Combined the two bookends way nearly 11 lb!
