Vintage hand-made and hand stitched mola! Measures approximately 14" x 18". This mola features a very complex design of two figures fighting, a very unusual motif; something I've never seen a mola depict! This mola offers very artistic additional designs covering most of the cloth (leaving little open space for evil spirits to settle), using multiple layers of cloth and completely hand stitched.
This mola is very old and not in brand new or perfect condition but is still an incredible vintage textile masterpiece!Molas are hand-made using a reverse appliqué technique. Several layers (usually two to seven) of different-colored cloth (usually cotton) are sewn together; the design is then formed by cutting away parts of each layer. The edges of the layers are then turned under and sewn down.A mola can take from two weeks to six months to make, depending on the complexity of the design.
