Offering a Vintage 1940's Phillips B-7803-1 Monophone in Bakelite with original plug.This item is a true collectible and a piece of history, having been manufactured starting in1934 in Canada. It features a classic Art Deco design and is ready to be used or displayed in your home. It has been well-preserved and remains unmodified, maintaining its original charm, and has a great vintage look to it..
Both the handset and phone body are made from black Bakelite, rendering this phone quite heavy at almost 6 pounds. Handset cord is hardwired, not modular - as is the original 4-prong wall plug. The original "Monophone" sticker from 1945 can be found on the underside.

We're a little bit confused about the provenance, since it exactly resembles an Automatic Electric AE40 model, yet on the bottom it clearly says "Produced by Phillips Electrical Works Ltd., Brockville, Ontario, Canada". It's most likely that Phillips Canada had these phones made for them by AE. Evidence of this can be found on the parts inside the handset which are clearly marked "AE 41".

CONDITION: All original parts. This has the expected wear of a phone some 80 years old, so please look at pictures for exact condition.. Rotary dial spins perfectly. It has not been painted, refinished or refurbished. Untested, and sold as-is. Presently it is not wired to work with our modern telephony system, but can be modified to function. The electrical cord is in bad shape, and there is a slight nick in the phone cordas shown, but all else looks decent.
