I have for sale a Tammany Hall political ribbon. The ribbon reads TAMMANY SOCIETY - OR COLUMBIAN ORDER - LAYING OFTHE CORNER STONE JAN. 8TH 1929. Unknown what corner stone or where but possibly for the Tammany Hall building at 44 Union Square, N.Y.C. that opened on July 4, 1929. Tammany Hall also known as the Columbian order was a political organization founded in 1786 and incorporated on May 12, 1789 as the Tammany Society. It was a political machine of the Democratic party and played a major role in controlling New York City & New York state politics for many years. It finally dissolved in 1967. The ribbon is white, but faded, with blue letters, it is 5 1/2 inches long and 2 3/16 inches wide. It\'s in circulated condition, with some red colors at the top, see photos.
