(6 1/2" x 9"; 212 pages - 156 are for The Golden Touch, and the remainder of pages are for a second story Buckey Bug's Luck) The Golden Touch has six full-page one-sided plate color illustrations, and over 60 full-page and half-page black & white illustrations, plus small black & white illustrations at the top and bottom of the other pages throughout the story. Buckey Bug's Luckhas only black & white full-page and half-page illustrations throughout.
This is the story of the greedy King Midas presented for children and very well written. All Midas cared about was his wealth - he cared nothing about people, animals or the beauty of nature that surrounded his palace. Goldie, the elf, granted Midas one wish, and Midas wished that everything he touched would turn to gold. His wish was granted, and he turned everything in his palace into gold - the walls, the floors, everything he touched - even his cat, preferring a golden cat to a live one. But when he became hungry and picked up his food to eat, it all turned to gold. When Midas was faced with starvation, he repented and asked Goldie to reverse his wish, which he did. Midas was then kind to his cat and finally appreciated what was important and good in life. **CONDITION** - pages and covers are Excellent - the book looks as if it was never read. The dust jacket shows some shelf wear but has protected the covers beautifully.
