For your consideration is a superboriginal 1912 Edison Model F Standard 2 and 4-minute cylinder phonograph workhorse, complete with its original Edison 10-panel cygnet horn and crane. If you have been seeking an all-purpose original and working like new 2 and 4-minute cylinder phonograph for ease of use and outstanding looks, here it is.
This 112-year-old phonograph presents very well, retaining a largely intact original shellac finish and excellent original Edison script decal. The top works is lustrous with original factory black enamel (asphaltum) paint and retaining 95% or its fragile gilt detailing and decals. Even the original nickel plating shines bright.
You will find the motor in this Standard to be about as well preserved as they come. It is near-silent and strong enough to power through a couple 2 and 4-minute cylinders with a full winding of the spring barrel. The new leather drive belt is the best on the market, pioneered by master phonograph technician, Wyatt Markus.
Included with this phonograph is its original 2 and 4-minute Model S reproducer, specific to the Model F Standard, along with corresponding reproducer carriage. The Model F reproducer is easy to use, with a directional pointer on the tail weight that, using a finger, you can switch to either 2 or 4 minute operation. There is a corresponding 2 and 4-minute knob on the top works that also must be switched for desired operation in conjunction with the reproducer. About as easy as pie.
Also included is this phonograph's original and superb Edison 10-panel cygnet horn with original crane and hanging spring. The horn retains original decals and pretty much all of its paint, a rarity these days when most horns have scratches after 110+ years of life.With the machine are 4 cylinders: one Edison 2-minute black wax, one Edison 4-minute black wax (in the video), one Edison 4-minute celluloid ( an early plastic), and finally one Indestructible 2-minute celluloid record. This machine will safely play all standard-sized black wax and celluloid 2 and 4-minute cylinders. Countless 2 and 4-minutes cylinders were made and they are easily found online or possible at your local antique shop. If you are seeking any particular genres of music, please let me know and I will gladly to supply you with additional recordings. I'm happy to include setup and operating instructions with this machine and will also offer an instruction video on operation and the recording process if so desired.
