This sale isfor a Santa Clara Pueblo black and grey pot with carved sgraffito bird andplant designs with some brown accents, by Native American artist Corn Moquino. There are three separate and differentbird/plant designs carved around the pot.

The pot isabout 3.5\" high x 4.75\" in diameter which narrows to 3.5” at theopening and 1.75” at its base. It issigned Corn Moquino along with his carved hallmark.

The pot waspurchased by me many years ago and is in excellent used condition with nodamage. There are no chips, cracks orrepairs. It has been on display only ina sealed china closet in my smoke free home for over 40 years.

About the artist: Corn Moquino (1929-2016 ). Corn Moquino hasZia and Hopi ancestry, married into Santa Clara Pueblo, and has been makingSanta Clara style pottery since around 1963. He is one of the earlier pottersto employ sgraffito style carving. Corn Moquino is the son of Benina Moquino;husband of Christine Herrera; brother of Willie Moquino, Bod Moquino, ReyesHomer and Ester Talles. He has been written up in Gregory Schaaf\'s PuebloIndian Pottery book.
