-1 Original World War ll US Army Garrison Cap Transportation piping (w/ transportation collar disc & laundry number (“L-9225”)

This is an original complete World War ll uniform with a garrison cap, field shirt, and 4-pocket enlisted men’s jacket in great condition. This uniform belonged to a private in the United States Army who served his country during the Second World War. Not much is known of the man this uniform belonged to as it came from an old neighbor of my mother many years ago. According to the patches on his jacket he served over 3 years in the United States Army. Serving a total of 24 months(2 years) overseas during the war. Likely while serving stateside he received his sharpshooter badge for anti-tank specialization. Having served with the 37th Infantry Division(The Buckeye Division)he would have fought in the Pacific Theater of War. Participating in the battle of Luzon and participating in the Northern Salmon campaign. Both campaigns were hard-fought battles between allied forces against the Japanese in the Pacific and were vital in winning the war. He said he was shot during the Battle of Luzon in 1945. He was transferred after recovering from his injuries to the US Army Port of Embarkation which was a military entity connected to the transportation corps. Assigned to a Far East Port in the Pacific he was responsible for organizing US Army soldier transports from island to island during the rest of the war. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving his country faithfully during World War ll he came to Chicago. The US Army Enlisted-Mans wool dress jacket itself is a size 39R made by “Phoenix Clothes Inc.” dated June 4, 1943, and has all buttons. The US Army field shirt is also patched and is a size 38. The shirt has a small hole but otherwise is in great condition and has all the buttons as well. The garrison cap has US Army Transportation Corps piping on its braid of yellow and red. On the inside of the garrison cap, it has the laundry number “L-9255” and the transportation corps collar disc. As mentioned all items are in very good condition despite being nearly 80 years old. This is a great lot of a complete World War ll uniform with a jacket, shirt, and hat. This is a great lot of a complete World War ll uniform with a jacket, shirt, and hat. Would be a great gift for a history buff’s birthday or a great addition to any collection.
