Here is a rare find - a partial bottle (crystal, faceted, Baccarat) of the fragrance 9 x 9 created in 1939 by the fashion house of groundbreaking French designer Jeanne Paquin.
Please review the photos to see the size (2-3/4" x 1-1/2"); to note that approx 40% of the perfume remains; & to see that the label shows some stains and wear. Nosize listed but my best estimate is that this is a 1.5 oz (45 ml) bottle.
There are 2 tiny bubbles - one in the crystal stopper and one at the bottom of the bottle that are too round to be chips and have occurred in the factory. Likewise, please review the photos of the stopper. There might be a tiny bit of wear visible in the magnified photos, but they are not visible to my naked eye.
The bottle is not marked "Baccarat" but Paquin used Baccarat bottles, according to the authoritative blog Cleopatra's Boudoir. The gorgeous curvilinear bottle and the intricately faceted crystal stopper matched by the facets on the sides of the bottle show great craftsmanship and skill with glass that does suggest Baccarat, I have also left the wire cord wrapped around the neck that once sealed this perfume.
Jeanne Paquin, born 1869, was a leading French fashion designer known for her exquisite designs and innovative, modern styles. She was the first major female couturier in France and a pioneer of the modern fashion industry. She and her husband opened their atelier on the famous Rue de La Paix in Paris (mentioned on label) in 1891 right next door to the House of Worth, with Jeanne creating all the designs and her husband running the business.
This perfume and its exquisite bottle, created in 1939 as France stood on the cusp of war with Nazi Germany and all Europe would soon be engulfed in flames, is a true bottled genie of a vanquished and lost world.
The perfume smells fine and usable to me, but that's just my opinion, you are buying this as a collectible and if you enjoy the perfume then that's a bonus for you.
