This incredible , century old remnant of Spanish colonial artwork , represents Our Lady Of Carmel, as she is dressed as a Priestess and is holding censers in both hands.
A “Priestess “ is a woman who is allowed to perform priestly duties in a non- Christian setting. Upon examining this age worthy piece you will discover that Our Lady of Carmel is holding censers which are hanging incense holders, burners, to purify her pathway to prayer. As you continue to examine this painting you will see the slight remains of images of Angels over her right shoulder,
The framing is partly preserved, and measures approximately : 7.5” x 4.75”.
