Fantastic antique certificate of service nicely framed and matted! Issued in 1870 to Lieutenant George G Nichols a veteran of the US Civil War. The certificate commends him for his service and patriotism during the war. It is signed by then governor William Claflin. Great images of the federal eagle and Abraham Lincoln on this very well printed certificate. Period frame and matting make for a beautiful presentation! The certificate has slid ever so slightly away from being centered with the matting. A good framer can fix this easily as could a competent owner. The certificate is in wonderful condition under glass, the frame is nice solid wood. Tiny bit of missing gold paint on inner trim. Back wood panels are bowing a bit but this is pretty irrelevant. Local Boston pickup only on this one for now. Thanks
