Vintage from the 1930-40’s

Materials: brass, steel, velvet, chrome

Adorable and ingenious pocket shaving kit, probably from the 1930s.

The chrome box has a brass push button mechanism and is lined with deep purple velvet. Inside are a razor with a tiny screw in handle and a single Vintage Gillette Blue blade.

The box is just 1.75 inches square and one half inch deep, so easily fits into a pocket or travel bag. The entire piece weighs 2.5 ounces and the razor itself weighs 1.25 ounces.

There are signs of wear to the case chrome plating but it has a great shine for its age. The case is in solid condition and closes snug as a bug. The four piece razor is in excellent shape. The top cap has a brilliant shine and the open comb teeth are robust. The handle has no cracks and the knurling is exceptional. The razor shaves close like the classic Old Type . I was impressed with how smooth and efficient it was. This is a rare gem and I can’t imagine that there too many of them in this condition. I’m finding it difficult to let this one go.
