The description was a little misleading. The overall length is 18" but the blade is only 12.5" and the thickest part of the blade is only about 5mm not 10mm. Having said that, the knife is a decent one for the price. It may work as a machete in some areas (not a jungle) but, I think it is really going to be a good chopper for small camp tasks. It looks like a classic machete but, shorter. I think this will still be useful. It arrived several days late but that was probably the USPS.
