WILFRED CHEAMA is a member of the illustrious Cheama family. He has been called”… among the most talented Zuni carvers to have ever lived. ” (Many of them are also Cheamas.) He works in the realistic style that characterizes his family, giving amazing detail to heads, paws and tails. Like his siblings, he was taught by his half-brother, Dan Quam and has also won numerous awards. He carves Zuni Fetish eagles, mountain lions and directional sets in a detailed and strong manner. Wilford and his siblings have taken Zuni fetish carving to the realm of realistic, detailed and naturalistic fetish creations. Wilfred's work is highly praised and sought after by collectors worldwide, as well as, everyday lookers because of his beautiful and striking-looking carvings.
