Vintage Chinese Hand Painted Plates Qianlong Nian Zhu (Set of 14) 1950s-1970s:

This is a unique find of 14 plates total, hand-painted in an Imari design with gold accents, made in China, probably hand-painted in Hong Kong. Each plate bears a Qianlong Nian Zhi mark, and most likely dates from 1950s-1970's, but I am no expert in Chinese porcelain and it could date from earlier in that century. The design is based on Chinese export porcelain pieces made centuries earlier.

There are six larger plates, measuring 8 1/8" across, and 8 smaller plates measuring 5 5/8" across. Each feature canted corners on a square design. The colors are bright fire orange and blue, and the bright color white of the plate itself has slightly bluish undertones.

In terms of use and wear, I see no utensil markings and only minor scratches. There are some areas of the inner border where it appears somewhat rubbed, and I believe this is from the plates being stacked for many years, as most of the plates seem to have the same rubbing wear to the same areas of the inner border. There are no chips or cracks. I see some slight manufacturing imperfections here and there underneath, with some unevenness to the porcelain under the glaze.

The plates are quite heavy all together, about 12 pounds. Each dinner plate is 1 lb 4 ounces, and the smaller plates are about 9 ounces each.
