Description: This sale is for the Stanley No. 4( ODDBALL VARIENT )c. 1960 Type 19 Smooth Plane in Original Box pictured. Dead mint. Looks to have never met a piece of wood. 99% or better original finish. You are not going to find a nicer example!! And as a bonus it is an oddball variant to boot. Read on. Most features making it a type 19 and not a type 20 or later, including the marked old style lateral, and black finish. It has no features of a later type 20 other than the yellow boxes date from after 1962. According to the box type study type 12 boxes, Yellow boxes with yellow corner staples, date from date from 1962 - 1980. Leaving aside the exact type or date, it is an odd variant in that it is only marked on the bed Made in USA. That is it. There is no, Stanley, Bailey, or the plane size number - No. 4 as one would expect. I have never noticed this before, and in looking around on the internet at other late No. 4s I could find no others similarly marked or more correctly, unmarked. A must have for the serious No. 4 collector who has to have them all. Pics tell the story. Please look at all the pics to see the details and condition.
