This postcard shows an early Biplane. A male and a female pilot stand proudly by the wing in leather jackets and goggles. Front of card is printed and readsW.R. Bonsall Elmira NY. The plane appears to be a Curtiss Jenny Biplane I believe. The male aviator is I believeLeon D. "Windy" Smith of Pine City, NY (Chemung Co,). He was a WW I Pilot and in the 1920's he worked with a female pilot named Dorothy Blackman, likely shown here. Ruth Blackman was the Corning NY girl who became a stunt flyer and set a new record when 25,000 people saw her stunt exhibit at the Batavia Fair.

Back of postcard is divided and is not postmarked. Condition is good as shown in the scan. Guaranteed vintage and original. The watermark is not on the postcard you are buying here.
