\"R. G. Hooper of Montville died suddenlyof heart disease on Thursday at his residence. Mr. Hooper was born in England, but came to Connection early in life and was engaged in manufactories in Rockville and Glastonbury. About twenty-five years ago he came to Montville and engaged in woolen manufacturing on his own account. He stood high in the estimation of all with whom he dealt and with all his acquaintances there was but one expression, \"Mr. Hooper was an honest and good man.\" He was the originator of the Totoket mill at Oecum. He has been prominent in politics in years past, was an ardent Republican, and as a member of that party has represented his town and district in both houses of the general assembly. He was a member of the Baptist church in Montville, and by his influence, energy and means has been of great assistance to that denomina- tion. He was also one of the principal promoters of the Baptist seaside resort at Crescent Beach, and did much to build up and beautify the grounds by his advice and good judgment. Mr. Hooper was a Mason and was one of the charter members of the Oxo- boxo lodge at Montville when it was formed a number of years.\"
