Rare 1800’s Ottoman Empire Turkish Bronze Palaska Grease Box (Possibly 1700’s). Solid bronze piece to add to your collection. (Please see last photo of how it was worn in ancient times).
18th-19th century. Worn on the horseman's belt to lubricate the patch for ease of loading and uniformity of discharge. Bronze, 4" height with crested hinged top and four decorative pendants to the base. Pierced side lugs for attachment to the belt. Bronze casting was perfected during the Seljuk empire and the motifs, as used here, perpetuated.
Measurements: 2”H x 2 3/8”W.
Condition: Missing decorative elements. Ding on front top.
