An ancient legend says that a Nordic forger named Ulfberht made the first sheet of steel. This crucial development achieved an almost mythical status among warriors, becoming one of the most important swords for the study of medieval weapons. Several of these sheets of different time periods are preserved, some with engravings in gratitude and reverence to the sanctified name of Ulfberht.

Before Ulfberht swords, all European swords were of the welded design variety. Soft iron bars were welded together with steel strips, forged to the shape of the blade, and subsequently welded the steel edge to the sword. But Ulfberht’s sword was a quantum leap in both technology and design. It was not made of strip, but good carbon steel sheets with enough carbon content to produce excellent swords. The design of the sword was also improved. The blade was sharpened more sharply to the tip. This led to the balance of the sword closer to the hand, making a sword that was faster in blow and recovery than the previous ones.

The engravings on both sides of the sheet are accurately reproduced so that the reproduction is true to the original. Made of high carbon steel and perfectly balanced. The grip is wood lined in leather. The solid guard is made of steel and the knob is shaped like a «Brazil nut», very popular at the time, both among the Vikings and in the rest of Europe.
