This is an early steamer and roaster all in one. The juices would collect in the bottom for gravy when used as a roaster, which could then be poured out through the mouth on the pan's side. Or if used as a steamer, water could be filled up about 1/2" deep in the bottom well.The pan some holes on one side and the handle has some dents.It has 3 legs and is hand forged.The handle is hallow copper and there is a hook on one of the arms for hanging your cooking fork or spoon.I would estimate this primitive piece to be from the middle 1700's or early 1800's.This would make a fantastic addition to your fireplace decor!23 1/2" tall and about 9" in diameter.
