This ESI bridge is amazing. It works well, within pretty close tolerances, which is unexpected for a tool of this age. The photos show measurements for a capacitor and a resistor, just in line with expectations. Capacitor and inductor values are read when the magic eye shadow is at max. Resistor values are read when the galvanometer is null. The photos show settings at 1K ohm for the test resistor - reading is at null. Changing the settings to 2K gives a deflection, as shown. All components, including the electrolytic cap, are original.
To make this into the truly precision instrument it once was would require a bit of an overhaul. If you are familiar with Mr Carlson's Lab on YouTube, his restorations are immaculate. The most important recommendation would be to disconnect the old electrolytic and sub in a modern cap, leaving the original in place for appearance. That way the power transformer is protected from cap failure.
