$2500.00
Handwritten manuscript business letter signed and fully in the hand of Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt (1794-1877). The letter is dated February 19, 1853, and addressed to [George] Fitzgerald. Vanderbilt's handwriting is rougher than most, but he does make distinct reference to "the Road", presumably one of Vanderbilt's many early railroad projects. On a single sheet, folded, with center contents blank and reverse blank, measuring 9.75" x 7.75". Full letters by Vanderbilt are quite scarce on the market, especially so those entirely in his own hand.
