Up for sale today is this California State Route 69 sign. Made to the exact standards as used from 1964 to 1972 along this historic highway. State Route 69 was located between Exeter and Dunlap, near Kings Canyon National Park. In 1972, Caltrans changed the number from 69 to 245, no doubt due to unusually high rates of sign theft.

An original of these will not be found in active service anywhere; Caltrans actively eliminated all of them when they renumbered the highway. An original would go for many hundreds or even thousands of dollars on the collector's market. So here's your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece...without breaking the bank.

The sign is 11 by 12 inches, and weighs 3 lb. 0 oz.

This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close!
