In June 2017, a nearly complete extinct species of bird was discovered in Burmite amber!There have since been other fascinating finds reported includingthat of a frog and a snake in 2018!

Burmese (Burmite) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaursand is being mined in the Hukawng Valley in Myanmar(Burma).

This is a fully polished piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains an interesting beetle with its wings seen open and displayed.This is rarely seen in beetles found in amber fossils.

Thisbeetle would havebeen on the Earth at the time of the dinosaurs including T-Rex and Triceratops!

The piece itself weighs0.5 grams with dimensions of 1.4 cmlength by0.9 cm width and0.4 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch.
