Antique Sargent & Co No. 3415 VBM-Very Best Made, Cast Iron Top Wood Bottom Jack Plane Planer. This Jack Plane was patented on February 3rd, 1891. These were manufactured from 1891-1941. This is the #3000 series that featured the horseshoe lateral adjustment and patent side adjustment for exact adjusting of the cutter with the face of the plane. It also features the very distinctive arrow feather pattern. It is 15" long, 2.75" wide, the base is 1.5" tall, and is 6" to the top of the handle. It features a cast iron top casting, with a beech body and handle. This is illustrated in the Sargent catalog of 1911. It has a cutter width of 2" and has a screw adjustable cutter.
