This is an original press photo. An unidentified man carries a box containing a liver destined for a transplant operation from a helicopter at a Manhattan landing pad Friday night. The liver was taken to Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to be placed in the body of three-year-old Lisa Klingelsmith of Alden, New York. The donor, not identified, was three-year-old who died earlier Friday at Children's Hospital in Buffalo, New York, and the liver was flown to La Guardia Airport in New York, aboard a private jet before being brought to Manhattan by helicopter. Photo measures 8 x 10 inches. Photo is dated 11-09-1973. PHOTO FRONT
